A beautifully textured blend, that will create a classic tweed textured yarn.
This fibre has been well blended to distribute the nepps evenly throughout the fibre. When spun it creates a yarn with just enough nepps to give an interesting effect, but not so many that you it feels like spinning the fluff from a tumble dryer.
90% South American Wool
10% Viscose Tweed Nepps
~100g (3.5oz)
The South American Wool in this blend is 25-26 microns, the staple length is around 75-80mm. It's a classic, multi-function fibre with great durability, but still soft enough for many to wear next to skin. The fibre has a slight sheen and lustre, and is beautiful to spin.
This fibre is hand dyed in small batches, where more than one braid is available they will have been dyed at the same time, using the same dye stock, but my dyeing technique produces braids with subtle variations.
These fibres have been dyed to exhaust using acid dyes, and then rinsed using hot water and detergent. I recommend you hand wash your spun yarn in warm water, using a mild pH neutral detergent. The no-rinse wool washes seems to be the most prone to causing bleeding so are best avoided.
Cool handwash only, will felt. For more detailed washing instructions take a look here.
