Mulberry Silk Hankies, also known as Mawata. The Silk moth's cocoon is stretched over a frame and dried, forming a thin sheet of silk fibre.
To use, pull off a single sheet of silk, poke a hole in the middle and stretch out the square in to a tube of silk, then pull in to the desired thickness.
You can then add twist using a spinning wheel or just knit using the untwisted fibre.

20g (0.7 oz)

Colour Description

A mid-toned blue-green. Dark turquoise, with hints of cyan.

These Hankies have been commercially dyed in Italy to Okeo-Tex 100 certification. This European environmental certification verifies the methods used are environmentally friendly, and the dyed used are safe for human health.

Hankies are ideal for adding to wet felt pieces, just pull off a single hanky, and lay it on the surface of your work relatively early in the felting process, the wool will trap the silk in place.
