Hand dyed on British Shetland Combed Top.
From fleeces graded by the experts at Jamieson & Smith. Sourced direct from the Shetland islands, using only sheep who live on the islands.
Superfine Shetland combed top, made from fleeces specially selected for their fineness, using only wool from the neck and shoulder area.
If you've previously written off Shetland as being too coarse then give this a try, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Hand dyed by me in my home in the Welsh hills using acid dyes, these give strong long lasting colours.
100g (3.5oz)
This fibre is hand dyed in small batches, where more than one braid is available they will have been dyed at the same time, using the same dye stock, but my dyeing technique produces braids with subtle variations, no two braids are ever identical, where multiple braids are available they are shown in the additional photographs.
These fibres have been dyed to exhaust using acid dyes, and then rinsed using hot water and detergent. I recommend you hand wash your spun yarn in warm water, using a mild pH neutral detergent. The no-rinse wool washes seems to be the most prone to causing bleeding so are best avoided.
